Day 8 - Meat Tray
This image uses a polarised light source - from my phone screen and a polarising filter to bring out the coloured patterns in the clear plastic.

Day Six - Backlit shell
I like the patterning and shape of this shell, but didn't find it made particular interesting photos from most angles. Due to its length you tend to miss most of it and thus don't capture its interesting shape, or you get too much background, which in my case didn't really suit the subject. However I found that backlighting it harshly like I have, made for an interesting take on it.

Day 5 - Wandering Weta
This guy ventured into the house but wasn't really cooperating. Couldn't really get him to stay still in a spot where I could get a decent shot. All the running round on the carpet meant he picked up a few fibres which don't look so good in the photo.

Day Three - Circuit
Just an old circuit board from an electronic device of some kind. I think it was our old cordless phone.
I added a bit of a green hue to the lighting by using the light from my phone with a plain green image displayed on the screen.

Day two - Onion weed
This stuff grows happily in the shady part of our garden and spreads like a weed (because it is one), but it has really photogenic flowers, and because it grows on the shady side of the house it's in really good light (nice open shade).

Macro Month - Day One
After years of doing nothing with this blog I finally decided to post some more stuff, mainly because I wanted to put more effort into getting my camera out and take photos just for the sake of it. I actually find myself enjoying it when I put a bit more effort into my shots, but I find this becomes more rewarding with a bit of practice too. So I've given myself the challenge of doing one month of photos, with the aim of taking one each day worth keeping. I know I can't always make this work every single day for a whole month, so I've started early so that I'll have a month's worth of photos to post throughout the month of October. Some days have already been missed when it comes to taking photos, and no doubt I won't get around to posting every day, but by the end of the month I will have posted 31 photos, one for each day of the month.
I'm not aiming to take any masterpieces, just images I'm satisfied with. Some will clearly be lacking in inspiration, but hopefully there will be some good ones in there, some shots I can be proud of. I'm starting off with a simple one today - just a lemon.

Simple, clean, but not particularly inspired.
